You only need the battery meter. You can use the old "Sunny 16 items" if you do not have the battery.

I have a Minolta X-370 (top 80) and requires a little button on the battery. The camera is in auto mode, shows only one meter at home and the manual, the battery must be open to the aperture. I have not changed the battery and got it, and probably there since 2000.
